On Wednesday the Google-owned video-sharing platform said it will begin testing (shorts), its new video feature that aims to compete with TikTok, in the US next month.

YouTube first launched the beta version of its new features shorts in India last year September. YouTube’s new features enable creators to upload a maximum of 15 seconds videos, it also enables tools for add music and interweaving clips together.

The Google-owned video-sharing platform is extending the beta test to the US, YouTube chief product officer said in a blog post “Every year, increasing numbers of people come to YouTube to launch their own channel,” Mohan wrote, explaining the creation of Shorts. “But we know there’s still a huge amount of people who find the bar for creation too high.”
